Dennis -- to your point of gay men compiling a list of 'hot' men vs. men-in-general compiling a list of 'hot' women.
There is a difference, and it goes to the very heart of the eternal feminist observation of the patriarchal power imbalance between the sexes.
Admiring women for their appearance is the default, whereas admiration for men is wide-ranging, and absolutely not limited to surface attractiveness.
One is humorous and light, the other -- in context of the relentless judgment of women's appearance -- is just more dismissal and degradation of the capacious humanity of the opposite sex.
I appreciated your discussion about how p*rn is impacting young people. I don't know how we can change things but I think the approach of organizations like Culture Reframed might be the way to go -- emphasizing the health impacts. As people speak more openly about the detriments, I hope it will become less popular.
Great discussion about porn and masculinity! I would add to the question of difference between a 10 Hottest females in heterosexual context vs. 10 hottest males in gay male context that, besides ubiquitous porn, there is also the historic context wherein a female person is condemned from birth to be valued on appearance alone and little else.
Note on Dressage - yes it is "horsey dancing", but also, interestingly, the movements derive from training horses for battle. For example, the trotting in place is designed to pulverize someone lying on the ground. So perhaps it's more accurately "Murderous horsey dancing".
That's such a good point. I rarely think any one thing explains an entire issue like the explosion of asexuality -- p*rn plus over-prescription of antidepressants plus lowered social skills due to Internet addiction seems more likely.

"Porn is unreality" -- Step back to 2001 AD in Alabama, when the state decided that there should be no sex ed whatsoever, so all the young gay men got their "information" about sex from porn, so the HIV infection rate in the state soared, and this whole sickening triangulation stands revealed.
