Re the ministerial resignations-averting and vote-salvaging decision by Sunak's government to pass a "conversion therapy" ban (after all) on both gay and so-called transgender treatment, and despite its already being illegal for gay people, the task (for us) would seem to shift to proving that "affirmative care" is ITSELF "conversion therapy" with a vengeance: including the whole indoctrination scenario in schools, on social media etc.
The worst consequence will be to make exploratory therapy for comorbidities even more difficult and dangerous for responsible therapists to undertake without being cancelled and losing their licence to practice: as the main reason so few of them are willing to work in replacement hubs for GIDS (which looks to be more of the same).
Let alone for such therapists to suggest that combinations of autism, internalised homophobia, fostering, physical / emotional sexual abuse or bullying are the CAUSE of "gender dysphoria", as a product of indoctrination: NOT the result. And that children's distress from assorted causes will NOT magically disappear with "transition" but is much more likely to get worse.
As a paediatrician pointed out to Kathleen Stock in her UnHerd article, if the recommendations of Hilary Cass were truly followed out, it would require a research project on children using controls to provide the evidence lacking from existing research: that the outcomes from use of puberty blockers etc is in any way better than doing nothing at all. (When the evidence shows that as many as 80% to 90% of children will adjust to their sexed bodies by going through puberty.) But that any such research would be immediately shut down because it would be unethical to experiment on children.
So the actual experimentation continues unchecked: taking care NOT to record the results, and to ignore and discount all those patients lost to followup -- who are numerous enough to discredit even the best of results, from the few and very short term studies available.
It's not just incredible that Polly Carmichael wasn't fired from GIDS. It seems incredible how so many of these latterday Mengeles are allowed by outfits like the General Medical Council, the Care Quality Commission, and National Institute for Clinical Excellence, to get away with practices based on such shoddy statistics and suspect medical "science".

But Miriam Cates and Kemi Badenoch seem to have nailed the downsides of a "conversion therapy" ban as implementing a Stonewall charter, splitting the party, angering the base and criminalising parents trying to offer kids "guidance"! Not surprised Sunak has decided on evasive "consultation" -- to leave a poisoned chalice for a Labour government to deal with. With any luck, Labour will be as split over gender ideology by then as the Tories seem to be now.
Very alarming that conversion therapy is back on the agenda and that many of the leading clinicians who were part of the failed Gids are still involved in the new services. I do hope that the ongoing legal cases are successful because this is getting ridiculous!!

I can only tell you why I'm obsessed: a) because it's damaging children like I was when I was their age, b) because it's damaging LGB and women's rights and c) because if you're prepared to accept the lie of "gender identity", what other lies are you willing to accept?
Imo it is b/c 'you see it' & are therefore sane & so many others are blind, deluded or indifferent that you feel mad about it. Don't lose the 'true North' of this matter & be grateful you have it.

My take on that from a criminal barrister point of view is that abduction seemed to me very practiced, I would be amazed if he hasn't done this before
